Therapeutic Adventures (TA) recently received a gift from the Virginia Spinal Cord Injury Group. In honor of Toney Lineberry, we have allocated some of those funds to provide scholarships for persons who are learning positive ways to overcome traumatic spinal cord injury or other debilitating disabilities.
Toney Lineberry, was truly an extraordinary man who lived a full and amazing life. In spite of a car accident when he was 18 years old which left him paralyzed as a C5 quadriplegic, Toney never slowed down. Over the next 37 years, Toney overcame major hardships and challenges and inspired thousands of people (see enclosed obituary) with his – Spirit of Independence.
The Toney Lineberry – Spirit of Independence – Memorial Scholarship will help provide access to Therapeutic Adventures (TA) – adaptive sports, and adaptive outdoor adventure programs. Toney’s wish would be that others experience the same joys and rehabilitative benefits that he realized through TA – skiing, sailing, camping, hand-cycling, etc.
